The Novel Coronavirus Response and Coordination Centre announced yesterday that a local man who returned to Macau from the Philippines on Wednesday has shown an “abnormality” in his antibody test for COVID-19.
The statement said that the 29-year-old man tested negative for COVID-19 in a nucleic acid test (NAT) upon his arrival at the local airport on Wednesday after returning from the Philippines via Tokyo and Taipei.
After the result of his COVID-19 antibody test showed an “abnormality”, the man was transferred to the Health Bureau’s (SSM) Public Health Clinical Centre for quarantine and medical observation, where he will undergo follow-up nucleic acid tests (NATs) and serology tests, the statement said.
The man had been working in the Philippines for a long time before returning to Macau, the statement said.
According to the centre’s previous announcements, a total of seven Macau residents who returned to Macau from overseas earlier this month tested positive for the novel coronavirus in their antibody tests. None of them have so far been classified as COVID-19 patients.
