An 87-year-old woman was seriously injured in the Barrier Gate district yesterday when she was hit and run over by a public bus. Her body was trapped underneath, according to local Chinese language media reports.
According to the media reports, the 61-year-old bus driver passed a breathalyser test. He told the police that he has been working as a bus driver for over 7 years. The victim is a local resident. Their surnames were not released.
The incident happened yesterday in Istmo de Ferreira do Amaral. The driver told the police that the accident happened when the bus was turning and the woman was crossing the road. The driver slammed on the brakes, but to no avail. The octogenarian ended up under the bus.
