Govt to discuss ‘One Belt, One Road’ with Guangdong today

Chief Executive Chui Sai On will meet Guangdong Governor Zhu Xiaodan in Macau today during the 2016 Macau-Guangdong Joint Co-operation Conference, the Spokesperson’s Office of the Government (GPV) said in a statement yesterday, adding that the two sides would discuss their joint participation in the central government’s “One Belt, One Road” initiative. 

Pointing out that Zhu will lead a government delegation to the annual conference at the Macau East Asian Games Dome in Cotai, the GPV statement said the local government and its Guangdong counterpart will sign a raft of co-operation agreements during the meeting. 

According to the statement, the two sides will also discuss how to encourage further exchanges between young people from the two places and push forward the setting-up of the China (Guangdong) Pilot Free Trade Zone (FTZ), which comprises Hengqin Area in Zhuhai, Qianhai-Shekou Area in Shenzhen, and Nansha Area in Guangzhou.
