The “3rd Professional Aptitude Competition of Macau Tourism and Leisure Companies 2021” organised by the Labour Affairs Bureau (DSAL) and Macau Federation of Trade Unions (Gung Luen) will add food and beverage (F&B) elements to the contest, according to a statement provided by the organisers yesterday during a press conference at the federation’s headquarters in Patane.

The statement said that the competition will take place at Conrad Macau in Cotai next Wednesday, pointing out that six integrated tourism and leisure companies will participate in the competition. The statement said that the organisers hope that by taking part in the competition, staff members of different companies in various roles would feel “accomplished and honoured” and being acknowledged by the industry.

The statement pointed out that this year’s competition has the same categories as in previous years, for example, house keeping, theme designing and facility maintenance competitions. However, the statement underlined that for the first time in three years the competition will include an F&B category, adding that chefs will be preparing western dishes, which comprise an appetiser, a main course and a dessert, within a limited period of time. The statement noted that the theme for the F&B competition will be “natural and healthy”, pointing out that the judges will grade the chefs by their service quality, preparation work, technique and other aspects.

The statement said that the organisers have invited professional judges from the industry to ensure the competition will be carried out “fairly and honestly”.
