Macau's next round of medical e-vouchers for permanent residents will start on May 1, the government's Executive Council has announced.

According to Friday's announcement by the government's top advisory body chaired by Chief Executive Ho Iat Seng, the e-vouchers worth 600 patacas (US$75) will be valid for two years, until April 30, 2023. The government expects to spend 428 million patacas on the latest round of medical e-vouchers.

The e-vouchers are only valid for consultations and treatments offered by health professionals in the private sector not subsidised by the government, the announcement noted.

The e-vouchers are fully or partly transferable to their beneficiaries' spouse, parents and children who are permanent residents, according to the announcement.

The government launched the medical voucher scheme in 2009 with the aim of promoting family health and cooperation between the public and private health sectors, the announcement pointed out.
