The forex reserves rose by 1.0 percent month-to-month.
Macau’s foreign exchange reserves at the end of March represented 10 times the local currency in circulation, or 83.8 percent of pataca M2 at the end of February, according to the statement.
The trade-weighted effective exchange rate index for the pataca rose 1.04 points month-on-month but fell 5.26 points year-on-year to 103.2 in March, implying that the pataca exchange rate grew against the currencies of Macau’s major trading partners on a monthly basis but dropped on an annual basis, the statement noted.
