Addressing yesterday’s weekly press conference about Macau’s novel coronavirus situation, Tai Wa Hou, the coordinator of the Health Bureau’s (SSM) COVID-19 vaccination programme, announced that an inoculation facility of the government’s COVID-19 vaccination programme has been set up at the private Kiang Wu Hospital, which comes into service today, with 180 places available per day.
According to Tai, the new facility is used for the administration of Sinopharm jabs for Macau residents and non-resident workers under the age of 60.
Macau residents and non-resident workers can make an appointment through the government’s COVID-19 vaccination booking system from 10 a.m. today to get their jabs at the Kiang Wu inoculation facility. The inoculations there also start today, Tai said.
Before today, the government’s COVID-19 vaccinations were carried out at 12 facilities, comprising two inoculation facilities at the public Conde de São Januário Hospital Centre, eight public health centres and two public health stations, with a maximum of 5,000 places for COVID-19 vaccinations available per day.
Tai said that now Kiang Wu Hospital has joined the government’s COVID-19 vaccination programme, Macau now has 13 inoculation facilities, with about 5,200 places available per day.
The 12 public health facilities used for COVID-19 inoculations are open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily. However, Tai said yesterday, the Kiang Wu inoculation facility runs from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily.
The new COVID-19 inoculation facility is located at Kiang Wu Hospital’s emergency and inpatient building.
Currently, those aged 60 or over can only get vaccinated against COVID-19 at one of the two inoculation facilities at the public hospital.
Among the 12 already existing inoculation facilities, the public hospital’s blood sample collection room, the Ocean Gardens Health Centre and the Ilha Verde Health Centre are used only for the BioNTech inoculations. The other nine vaccination facilities, including the one at the public hospital’s outpatient department, are used only for the Sinopharm inoculations.
