Chief Executive Ho Iat Seng’s working visit to Hainan has bolstered cooperation between the two places, the Macau Government Information Bureau (GCS) said in a statement yesterday.

Ho attended on Tuesday the opening ceremony of the Boao Forum for Asia Annual Conference 2021, where he listened to a keynote speech delivered by President Xi Jinping via video link.

Ho led a Macau delegation to Hainan’s Qionghai on Monday and Tuesday. During his two-day visit to the island province, he met with senior officials of the province and of the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission, the statement noted.

In a meeting with the secretary of the Hainan Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), Shen Xiaoming, the two sides discussed how to bolster bilateral ties in economic and trade matters, tourism, developments related to high and new technology, financial services, traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), and the cultivation of talents in order to support economic development, the statement said.

Ho also met with Hainan Governor Feng Fei. They shared insights on how to press ahead on cooperation between Macau and Hainan concerning environmental protection and human resources, the statement pointed out.

According to the statement, Ho also had a meeting with the chairman of the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council, Hao Peng. Both exchanged views on cooperation in the areas of healthcare services, innovative financial services, the science and technology sector, and cultural industries.
