An exhibition titled “A Room with a View” by French artist Baptiste Rabichon is being held at the Tap Seac Gallery.
The photo exhibition is organised by the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC).
According to the exhibition’s brochure, Rabichon was born in the southern French city of Montpellier in 1987. He lives and works in Paris. After studying oenology (the study of wines), he attended the Dijon National School of Art (ENSA) in 2009, the Lyon ENSBA in 2011 and finally the Beaux-Arts de Paris (ENSBA) in 2012, where he attended the workshops of Claude Closky and Patrick Tosani. After graduating in 2014, he enrolled in Le Fresnoy - Studio national des arts contemporains and graduated in 2017 with honours.
He is the 2017 laureate of the BMW Residency and the 2018 laureate of the Moly-Sabata – Le salon de Montrouge Prize. In 2019 and 2020 he was selected to be artist-in-residence at the Cité Internationale des Arts in Paris.
“A Room with a View is the most apt title for this exhibition consisting five series – Albums, Dad’s Shirts, Lodi Gardens Trees, Balconies and Manhattan Drawings” the brochure says.
The exhibition displays 41 pieces / sets of Rabichon’s creations mixing analogue photography, digital images, and projection of everyday objects, which show a bizarre blend of classical charm and contemporary textures, opening a window into a beautiful dream, according to the brochure.
The exhibition runs until June 27 at Tap Seac Gallery at 95 Avenida do Conselheiro Ferreira de Almeida. It opens daily from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Admission is free.
