Over 60 percent of local shops have upgraded to the Simple Pay system, a Monetary Authority of Macau (AMCM) statement said yesterday.
According to the statement, Simple Pay is a system that only requires one machine or one QR code to accept all of the city’s currently eight different e-payments.
The statement noted that Simple Pay was first launched in February and March, adding that after AMCM’s hard work, over 60 percent of local shops are now using the system. The statement noted that shops such as retail, dining and different kinds of small-and-medium enterprises (SMEs) are using Simple Pay.
The statement pointed out that the step required to upgrade to Simple Pay is very easy, adding that there are five financial companies that provide the “Simple Pay” service for shops to choose. The statement urged more shops to consider upgrading to Simple Pay to ease residents’ daily life and increase their competitiveness.
