Two local men were arrested on Monday for the alleged possession of banned weapons, a Judiciary Police (PJ) spokesperson said in a special press conference yesterday.

According to the spokesperson, the PJ received information at the beginning of last month that trees and cars had been damaged in Cotai. After investigating, the police identified five suspects aged between 19 and 22 and took them in for questioning, resulting in Monday’s two arrests.

The spokesperson said the police found a quantity of illegal weapons in two of the suspects’ homes and cars. Machetes, Samurai swords and flick knives were found in the home and car of a 22-year-old man surnamed Ho who told the police that he was a fisherman. A metal baseball bat and a wooden rounders bat were found in the car of a 21-year-old jobless man surnamed Chio.
