Medics must have mandatory liability insurance: bill

The government proposes in the final version of its bill on medical malpractice that all medical professionals will have to be covered by liability insurance, Cheang Chi Keong, who heads the legislature’s 3rd Standing Committee, said yesterday.

Cheang briefed reporters after a closed-door meeting with government officials at the Legislative Assembly (AL).

Addressing the press briefing, Cheang pointed out that the bill was first presented to the legislature at the start of this legislative term in October 2013.
