This year’s National Security Exhibition at the Services Platform Complex for Commercial Cooperation between China and the Portuguese-speaking Countries in Nam Van attracted over 42,000 visitors and accumulated over 330,000 visitors on its website over the last month, the Government Information Bureau (GCS) said in a statement yesterday.

The exhibition ended last night. The statement underlined that since the exhibition’s opening last month many social groups, youth associations, schools, government entities and public and private organisations have been giving positive feedback.

The statement said that the deputy director of the Central People’s Government Liaison Office in the Macau Special Administrative Region (MSAR), Luo Yonggang, and Secretary for Security Wong Sio Chak went to the venue to greet the exhibition staff. Luo was quoted by the statement as saying that the display of the exhibition, the number of visitors, and the overall feedback from civil society had exceeded his expectations.

Luo said he believed that under the leadership of President Xi Jinping and the guidance of Chief Executive Ho Iat Seng, Macau’s national security work will be done well, adding that both leaders’ efforts will further reinforce the “One Country, Two Systems” principle.

According to the statement, Wong said that the exhibition having been held during the COVID-19 pandemic meant that those who worked at the exhibition needed to put in long hours to assist many visitors, adding that the staff faced an increasing workload. He appreciated the staff’s hard work.

According to the statement, the exhibition displayed articles, over 400 photos and around 20 videos about the close relationship between the motherland and Macau in the past year. The statement noted that the exhibition also hosted an essay competition, and over 4,800 compositions were submitted by secondary school pupils.

The statement said that members of the public can still visit the exhibition website at https://eesn.gov.mo for information displayed at the exhibitions held between 2018 and 2020.
