A local man was arrested on Friday for buying cannabis oil, cannabis buds and dried cannabis plants online earlier this month from the mainland with an estimated street price of 65,000 patacas and had them sent to Macau via a logistics company, Judiciary Police (PJ) spokesman Chan Wun Man said at a special press conference on Saturday.

According to Wikipedia, hash oil, also known as cannabis oil or honey oil, is an oleoresin obtained by the extraction of cannabis or hashish (hash).

The 26-year-old local suspect surnamed Kuan told the police that he works as a waiter.

According to Chan, the Judiciary Police were recently tipped off that someone had sent a parcel containing drugs to Macau via a logistics company. The Macau Customs Service informed the Judiciary Police that the parcel was scheduled to arrive in Macau on Thursday night, ready to be picked up at the logistics company in the northern district on Friday. PJ officers identified Kuan as the recipient and put the logistics company under surveillance on Friday morning.

Chan said that Kuan arrived at the pick-up point to collect the parcel in the afternoon when PJ officers intercepted him. The officers seized three bottles of cannabis oil weighing a total of 47.4 grammes hidden in a stationery box inside the parcel. The officers later searched Kuan’s home in Ilha Verde district and discovered 16.2 grammes of cannabis buds, 2.3 grammes of dried cannabis plants, drug-taking paraphernalia and drug packaging tools.

Under questioning, Kuan admitted to taking drugs, claiming that he contacted the seller through the internet 10 days ago and purchased three bottles of cannabis oil for 4,800 yuan (5,970 patacas) in total. As instructed by the seller, he paid the equivalent amount in cryptocurrency. The drugs were sent to Macau via the logistics company. He told the police that he purchased the cannabis buds and the dried cannabis plants in the same way two weeks ago.

Kuan was transferred to the Public Prosecutions Office (MP) on Saturday, facing charges of buying drugs, drug abuse and illegal possession of drug-taking paraphernalia, according to Chan.
