Macau’s power utility CEM and the Labour Affairs Bureau (DSAL) recently co-organised a medium voltage (MV) switching training course with the aim of “enhancing the awareness and professionalism of local electrical technicians in handling MV switching equipment,” CEM said in a statement yesterday.
It was the second course of its kind, the statement pointed out.
The courses introduced the trainees “to the MV power distribution circuit structure, the functions and operating principles of the main equipment, as well as field operation training,” the statement said, adding that “after successfully completing the course, the participants will be able to master the professional operating skills of MV switching equipment and have a more comprehensive understanding of the technology.”
The course was held at CEM’s integrated centre. The statement quoted CEM Executive Committee Chairman Bernie Leong Wa Kun as saying that “talent cultivation is an important part of CEM’s social responsibility.”
Leong also said that since its launch last year, the course has received an overwhelming response from the industry, resulting in “over-enrolment”.
The source was divided into two classes, with 15 trainees each, which was taught by senior CEM engineers and technicians. Participants who completed the course and passed an assessment were awarded a certificate jointly signed by CEM and the Labour Affairs Bureau.
“With Macau’s continuous development, the city has seen a rising demand for high-quality local electrical technicians,” the statement concluded.
