Addressing yesterday’s weekly press conference about Macau’s novel coronavirus situation, Macau Government Tourism Office (MGTO) Communication and External Relations Department Chief Lau Fong Chi said that to make local residents’ trips back to Macau easier, the government had decided to cooperate with Singapore Airlines for the latter to operate two round trips a week between Singapore and Macau.
According to Lau, the Macau Civil Aviation Authority (AACM) has been liaising with Singapore Airlines and its low-cost subsidiary airline Scoot Tigerair Pte. Ltd. and has agreed to offer two round trip flights per week between Macau and Singapore. Lau said she hoped that by arranging those flights, locals living overseas could come back to Macau easier. She stressed that those who would like to travel on the flights could look up the details on Singapore Airlines’ website.
According to Singapore Airlines’ [Scoot] website, the first available flight will be this coming Saturday from Macau to Singapore.
Hotels must follow COVID-19 guidelines
Lau also said that due to the current COVID-19 pandemic, Macau’s hotels and resorts must abide by the Health Bureau guidelines such as people entering the premises have to wear a facemask, have their temperature checked and display their Macau Health Code. Lau stressed that MGTO officials have been patrolling local hotels to ensure that the COVID-19 pandemic preventive measures are applied.
Lau also pointed out that MGTO’s “Stay, Dine and See Macau” programme will also strictly abide by the city’s Health Bureau (SSM) guidelines, and participants with a yellow or red Macau Health Code will not be able to join the local tours.
