Macau Catholic Diocese Secretary General Reverend Cyril J. Law, Jr, said in a statement yesterday that the diocese’s churches are launching new COVID-19 prevention measures for churchgoers.
According to the statement, in order to stay aligned with the Health Bureau’s (SSM) heightened COVID-19 preventive measures, the diocese decided to announce three guidelines for churchgoers to follow.
The statement said that the faithful must show a green Macau Health Code prior to entering a church. The statement added that this includes Saturday and Sunday Masses and tourists who visit any of the churches. The statement underlined that those who do not have a smartphone need to fill in a form prior to entering.
Secondly, the statement noted that the general public must have their temperature checked, use hand sanitisers and wear a facemask before entering a church. Thirdly, the statement pointed out that those who have flu symptoms, such as constant coughing, fever and a runny nose should see a doctor instead of attending church services. The statement underlined that the diocese “forgives those who are absent from Sunday Mass due to sickness”.
The statement stressed that the three measures will take immediate effect.
