Firefighters double winners in dragon boat races: Sports Bureau

The Fire Services Bureau (CB) won both the 200-metre small dragon boat race for public entities and the 500 metre standard dragon boat race during the two-day 2021 Macau International Dragon Boat Races held at the Nam Van Lake Nautical Centre, a Sports Bureau (ID) statement said yesterday.

According to the statement, SJM Gold Jubilee and Wynn won second and third place in the 500 -metre standard dragon boat race respectively. The statement also noted that the female category of the same race was won by the Association of Macau Youth Development, adding that MGM Macau and Wynn won second and third place respectively.

Another statement by the bureau on Sunday said that the University of Macau (UM) won the 200-metre small dragon boat race in the university student category. The statement said that the public 200-metre small dragon boat race was won by the Association of Macau Youth Development.

The statement said that in order to stay in line with the Health Bureau’s (SSM) COVID-19 prevention guidelines, the races were not open to spectators, adding that the participants and event coordinators had to show a valid Nucleic Acid Test (NAT) taken within 14 days prior to entering the venue for the competition. The statement stressed that people present at the venue had to show a green Macau Health Code, have their temperature checked and wear facemasks. The statement added that the racers also had to wear their facemasks at all times and could only take them off during their warm-ups and actual races.
