Institute of European Studies of Macau (IEEM) President José Luis de Sales Marques told reporters yesterday that while China and the European Union (EU) already enjoy a good and developing relationship, the central government’s “Belt and Road Initiative” (BRI) is providing a good opportunity for further cooperation between the two sides.
Marques made the remarks on the sidelines of yesterday’s seminar entitled “EU current political changes and challenges – Update on EU’s internal developments, EU-China and EU-Macau relations”, which was jointly held by the Legal Affairs Bureau (DSAJ) and Institute of European Studies, on the DSAJ premises in Nape.
The director of the EU Governance Programme at the European Institute in Florence, Miguel Maduro, and the University of Macau’s (UM) Jean Monnet Chair in International Relations Professor Song Weiqing delivered presentations at yesterday’s seminar.
