An event entitled “Macau Comics Challenge 10 Years Exhibition” is on display at the 10 Fantasia gallery.
The exhibition is being hosted by Maple Studio in conjunction with the Macau Animation & Multimedia Support Centre (MAMC), 10 Fantasia – A Creative Industries Incubator, and the St. Lazarus Church District Creative Industries Promotion Association. The exhibition is sponsored by the public Macau Foundation (FM).
According to an article by Fantasia, the Macau Comic Festival is an annual competition for comics, illustrations and novels. The annual event has involved young artists since the first competition held in 2010.
Maple Studio showcases at the current exhibition the entries in the past 10 years, enabling the participants to review their own creative paths. According to the article, the annual exhibition each time welcomes newcomers to display their comics, reminding them that persistence is the way to find recognition.
According to the statement, Maple Studio organised a meeting for comic creators earlier this month to discuss the situation of Macau’s comic market and their local career path. About 30 local artists attended the meeting.
The exhibition runs until June 26 in two rooms, C01 and C02, at 10 Fantasia, which opens daily from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. (closed in Mondays), at 10 Calçada da Igreja de S. Lázaro. Admission is free.
