The Macau Government Tourism Office (MGTO) is launching its new “Incubation Plan for Macau’s KOL in Tourism” at noon today.

KOL stands for “key opinion leader”.

The statement said that in order to encourage residents and the local tourism industry to utilise social media to promote Macau’s multi-aspect tourism image, MGTO has launched the incubation plan aiming to train the city’s influencers. The statement noted that the plan includes sharing sessions, content creation booster camps and a short film creative competition.

According to the statement, the launch ceremony for the plan will be on July 11 at the 9th Macau International Travel (Industry) Expo. The statement also said that there will be an expert sharing session entitled “The Secret of ‘PQ Cuisine” – Douyin Account with over 10M Followers” (“千萬級抖音大號‘貧窮料理’的製作秘笈”), inviting food bloggers to share their experiences in creating short films and livestreaming videos. The statement said the signup for the sharing session starts today at noon.

The statement underlined that there will be special camps on August 7,8, 21 and 22 at the Macau Young Entrepreneur Incubation Centre in Nape for participants. The statement pointed out that MGTO has invited TikTok professionals to talk about how to attract viewers to the application and teach them how to create short films. The statement said that for those who attend more than 75 percent of the booster camps can take part in the competition and the winning creator will be awarded the title “Macau Travel KOL” and will be certified as “Outstanding Content Creators on Tourism”, adding that the winners will be announced on September 27 – “World Tourism Day”.

The statement noted that the plan targets local residents who are 18 and above, and those who are working in the tourism industry, especially tour guides, have priority. The signup deadline is July 23 and admission is free. The statement stressed that there will only be 50 places available, adding that if the number of signups exceeds the limit, MGTO will randomly select participants from a lucky draw.
