Staff on less than minimum wage to be exempt from provident fund dues: bill
The legislature’s 1st Standing Committee yesterday continued discussing a government-initiated bill on the non-mandatory central provident fund system, in which lawmakers agreed with the government’s proposal that an employee does not need to contribute to the fund if their monthly salary is less than the statutory minimum wage after deducting the dues payable, while their employer still has to pay the empoyees’ share of the dues for the staff member, according to lawmaker-cum-unionist
