A Filipino non-resident worker was arrested on Tuesday for stabbing two Filipinos, Public Security Police (PSP) spokesperson said at a regular press briefing on Friday.
The 28-year-old suspect surnamed Sumulong told the police that he works as an assistant for a gaming company. The two victims are cousins aged 33 and 34. They are the suspect’s colleagues and friends.
According to the spokesperson, three Filipinos were using a smarphone to watch a cockfight game online while having drinks at a restaurant in Taipa last Monday night. After the cock the two victims had bet on lost, they suddenly punched Sumulong in the head and left. Sumulong got angry after the assault, went home to get a 29-centimetre-long knife so that he could take revenge by stabbing his two friends near Estrada Governador Albano de Oliveira in Taipa later that night. The duo sustained wounds to their back, hands and head. One of them took himself to the hospital for treatment, while the other was rushed to a local hospital by ambulance. He was discharged after outpatient treatment.
Thanks to CCTV footage, PSP officers identified Sumulong and arrested him last Tuesday morning in a flat in Rua dos Mercadores. The officers later retrieved the knife in a drain in Rua de Chiu Chau in Taipa. Under questioning, Sumulong admitted to attacking the two men, the spokesperson said.
The suspect has been transferred to the Public Prosecutions Office (MP), facing charges of causing bodily harm and possession of an illegal weapon, according to the spokesperson.
