Hong Kong’s Chinese-language newspaper Sing Tao Daily reported yesterday that Wang Zhimin, a deputy director of the Hong Kong and Macau Affairs Office of the State Council, will “soon” replace Li Gang as director of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in Macau.

The local liaison office director is the highest-ranking central government official posted to Macau.

Quoting a “reliable source”, Sing Tao said in a news report the appointment was expected to be announced within a few days, adding that Wang had arrived in Macau on Wednesday.
