An exhibition of artwork by teachers, pupils and parents from Kai Chi School (啟智學校), titled “Culture • Talents • Pass On” (文化才藝承傳), is on display at the gallery of the Education Resources Centre of the Education and Youth Development Bureau (DSEDJ).

According to a statement on the school’s Facebook page, the event is sponsored by the bureau and organised by the school with the aim of promoting traditional Chinese culture.

The statement underlined that the school has carried out a raft of traditional Chinese cultural education activities for students, conveying Chinese culture to students “in a vivid artistic way”, through their artworks such as colour painting, tie-dyeing, paper-cutting, rubbing and collage.

The exhibition displays a total of about 100 works comprising students’ work, teachers and students’ work, and parents and children’s work. The event provides an opportunity for students with special needs to explore their potential and showcase their artwork to the public, allowing the community to have a deeper understanding of students with special educational needs, according to the statement.

Kai Chi School is a local school which provides special education (also known as special-needs education, aided education, exceptional education) to students, the practice of educating students to accommodate their individual differences, disabilities, and special needs.

“Kai Chi” means “enlightened wisdom”.

The exhibition runs until August 25 in the ground-floor Zizhan Gallery of the DSEDJ’s Education Resources Centre at 926 Avenida da Praia Grande. It opens daily from 10:30 a.m. to 7 p.m., and on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., and 2 p.m. to 5:40 p.m. Closed on Sundays, admission is free.
