In order to support the Art Macao: Macao International Art Biennale 2021 series of events organised by the government, ‘Time Is On My Side – 2021 Greater Bay Area Young Artists Scheme’ competition is open for submissions from the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area (GBA) until August 27.
A total of 24 winners in two categories, painting and photography, will share cash prizes totalling over 1 million yuan (about 1.2 million patacas) and receive an invitation to the award ceremony and have the winning art pieces displayed at The Londoner Macao.
The objective of the competition is to focus on Chinese cultural interaction and the exchange between young artists in the Greater Bay Area, providing them with a high-profile platform. The event aims to demonstrate the inclusivity of the cultural industries in the region and highlight the potential of the younger generation through showcasing their painting and photography. The theme ‘Time Is On My Side’ is also an invitation to participants to “explore your creativity and imagination”.
‘Time Is On My Side – 2021 Greater Bay Area Young Artists Scheme’ competition will be in two categories: painting and photography. Entry is open to individuals or teams aged 18 to 45 from the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. Winners will receive 25,000-100,000 yuan and a certificate, with six first prize winners, eight second prize winners, and ten third prize winners.
After the evaluation by the judging panel, 100 works will be shortlisted, with the prize presentation and exhibition opening ceremony to be held in September. The 24 winning works will then be exhibited at The Londoner Macao.
