Macau Chief Executive Ho Iat Seng will attend a plenary session in the hemicycle of the Legislative Assembly next month to answer lawmakers’ questions on government policies and social issues, according to a statement by the Macau Government Information Bureau (GCS) yesterday.
The session will start at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, August 10. It will be broadcast live on television and radio channels of public broadcaster TDM.
Members of the public can watch the proceedings online via the website of the local government portal (www.gov.mo); the website of the Chief Executive’s Office (www.gce.gov.mo);the website of the Legislative Assembly (www.al.gov.mo); the GCS website (www.gcs.gov.mo); and the YouTube channels ofthe Chief Executive’s Office (https://www.youtube.com/c/gcegovmo) and GCS (https://www.youtube.com/macaogcs) as well as GCS’s Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/macaogcs).
Users of portable devices may watch the Q&A session via “GCE Macao”, a mobile application provided by the Chief Executive’s Office; or through “Macao Government News”, GCS’s mobile app.
Customarily, the chief executive attends Q&A sessions at the Legislative Assembly in Praia Grande (Nam Van) Bay three times a year.
According to yesterday’s GCS statement, the aim of the Q&A sessions is “to enhance communication with Legislative Assembly members, optimise administrative transparency and update the public on the progress of the government’s work.
Usually, the Q&A sessions last about three hours. The lawmakers' written questions are submitted to the chief executive in advance.
The legislature has 33 members - 14 directly elected by universal suffrage, 12 indirectly elected by association representatives and seven appointed by the chief executive.
The next direct and indirect Legislative Assembly election are scheduled to be held on September 12.
