The Health Bureau (SSM) said in a statement yesterday that Accu-Chek requested the recall of its Performa blood glucose meters that were damaged during the delivery process.
According to the statement, the products might have been opened accidentally during the delivery process, which caused the blood glucose meters to be exposed to humidity and possibly affected their functionality. The statement said that even though the situation rarely happens, just in case there was a product malfunction affecting any of the meters the company decided to recall the brand-new products with damaged packaging.
The bureau urged users to carefully check the product before using it, adding that if residents find that the packaging and the bottle containing the blood glucose meters were damaged, they should avoid using them. The statement underlined that the company has set up a hotline for the matter. Residents who find any flaws in the product can call 2872 1803 during office hours for information on how to exchange the meters.
