Macau Holy House of Mercy donates 1 million patacas for Henan flood victims

The Holy House of Mercy of Macau (SCMM) has donated one million patacas for the victims of this month's deadly floods in Henan province.

According to a statement by Macau's oldest charitable organisation, which was set up in 1569, SCMM President Antonio Jose de Freitas handed the one-million-pataca cheque to the Macau Red Cross yesterday. 

A number of local residents, community organisations and enterprises have donated various amounts of money for the victims in the rain-ravaged northeastern province. 

Henan's death toll of flood victims stood at 69  yesterday. 

The Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in Macau has opened two Bank of China (BOC) accounts for Henan flood disaster donations: 180111238228366 (Hong Kong dollars) and 180101207720914 (patacas). 

Macau's six gaming operators (SJM, Galaxy, Sands, Wynn, MGM and Melco) each have donated 10 million patacas. 

Macau's Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) members have donated a total of five million patacas. The Macau Red Cross has donated 300,000 yuan. Besides, by yesterday the local Red Cross organisation had received a total of 2.82 million patacas from a wide range of local donors.
