An Indonesian chef was arrested on Tuesday for selling drugs and the police seized 11 packets of ice weighing 11.45 grammes with an estimated street value of 35,000 patacas from the suspect, Judiciary Police (PJ) spokesman Ho Chan Nam said at a special press conference yesterday.

The 21-year-old suspect surnamed Abdhi is a non-resident worker.

According to Ho, the Judiciary Police received a tipoff recently that a man was selling drugs in Avenida do Conselheiro Ferreira de Almeida. PJ officers identified Abdhi and put him under surveillance. The officers arrested Abdhi in Estrada do Cemitério and seized 10 packets of ice weighing a total of 11.15 grammes hidden in a facemask box. The police took Adbhi to his home in San Kio district where they found a packet of ice weighing 0.3 of a gramme as well as a small digital scale.

Ho said Abdhi admitted that he had been “instructed by someone” to deliver drugs to buyers, but he refused to reveal further details to the police. He tested positive for drugs and the Judiciary Police believe that he had been selling drugs for about a month, mainly to Indonesian compatriots, Ho said.

Abdhi was transferred to the Public Prosecutions Office (MP) yesterday, facing charges of trafficking narcotics and psychotropic substances, according to Ho.
