Hou Kong Middle School apologised in a statement yesterday over its dance exchange group member who has been infected with the COVID-19 Delta variant after her trip to Xi’an.
According to the statement, the school sincerely apologises for the “inconvenience and disturbance” that its dance exchange group has caused. The statement also listed a series of immediate actions that the school has taken.
The statement said that, firstly, it has notified schoolteachers, the dance exchange group’s teacher and his or her close contacts, which includes the bus driver of the tour. The statement said that the school will report the situation to the bureau and abide to the Health Bureau prevention and control guidelines and take necessary actions.
The statement said that the school has provided the Health Bureau with a list of what the team members and team teachers have done and where have they been since returning from Xi’an.
The statement also said that the school has urged the dance exchange members and teachers to have their nucleic acid test (NAT) as soon as possible. The school also has been keeping close communication with the Health Bureau (SSM) and following the bureau’s guidelines on cooperation.
According to the statement, the school has suspended all group activities and strictly abided by the Health Bureau’s COVID-19 prevention and control guidelines. The school has also reported the situation to the Education and Youth Development Bureau (DSEDJ).
The statement pointed out that the school has urged all students and teachers to stay in Macau during the holidays, wear facemasks when they leave their homes, wash their hands often and avoid all kinds of gathering.
The school vowed that it has learnt from its mistake and pledged to promote COVID-19 prevention and control education.
Hou Kong Middle School is one of Macau’s most renowned secondary schools.
