A Novel Coronavirus Response and Coordination Centre statement said yesterday that senior citizens, pregnant women, parents with infants or young children, people with disabilities and people with special needs should consider getting their nucleic acid tests (NATs) done at testing sites set up at local hotels.

The statement said that as the waiting facilities at the hotel-based testing sites are located indoors, those people could wait there in a more comfortable area. The statement also reminded residents that there is still time left to undergo the test, recommending residents go get the test done at non-peak hours.

The centre thanked residents and medical staff for their cooperation, support and hard work.

The Macau Post Daily visited Hotel Grand Lisboa at 7 p.m. yesterday where 150 people were waiting for their tests. Two hotel staff members said that the waiting time was about two hours. According to a statement by the Civil Protection Operations Centre, Hotel Grand Lisboa’s testing site has one medical staff and at midnight there were 20 people waiting to get tested.

Meanwhile, at Wynn Macau at 7:25 p.m. about 80 people were waiting for their tests and a hotel staff member said that the wait was about an hour. When The Macau Post Daily was there, a senior couple arrived at the testing station and was able to go to the head of the queue to get their tests done. The Civil Protection Operations Centre said in a statement that the Wynn Macau-based testing site has one medical staff member and at midnight there were 13 people waiting.

MGM Macau at 7:48 p.m. required a 1-2 hour wait to be tested. Its ballroom was still packed so they did not know how many people were waiting there, hotel staff said. According to The Civil Protection Operations Centre, at midnight there were 15 people waiting to get tested and there was one medical staff at the station.

The Macau Post Daily contacted Sands Macao yesterday after Venetian staff refused to answer any of The Macau Post Daily’s questions or allow the newspaper to take any photos on Wednesday. Sands yesterday said that the station was “too busy” and refused to reveal the number of people waiting there, and how many medical staff members were performing the tests. However, The Civil Protection Operations Centre noted that there was one medical staff at the station and 15 people were waiting at midnight.
