Legislator-cum-law professor Gabriel Tong Io Cheng said yesterday that he submitted last week the draft of an “interpretative law” on the Land Law’s clauses regulating provisional land concessions to the Legislative Assembly (AL) for debate and vote.

Tong, who will become the acting dean of the University of Macau’s (UM) Faculty of Law later this month, was asked by reporters about his bill before yesterday’s plenary session of the legislature.

The Land Law, which was passed by the legislature in August 2013, stipulates that provisional land concessions cannot be renewed upon their expiration if their leaseholders failed to develop the land within the legal period.
