The Judiciary Police (PJ) have been notified by a local citizen that he or she received a call with a pre-recorded Cantonese and Putonghua voice message claiming that the recipient of the call had not yet collected important documents from the Health Bureau (SSM), according a PJ statement yesterday.
The statement did not identify the citizen’s gender.
The statement said that the police have not received any complaints concerning the voice message but reminded the public to be wary of falling victim to phone scams.
In general, the Judiciary Police urged the public to always carefully verify the authenticity of the caller and guard against criminals looking for a chance to obtain personal data for fraudulent purposes. Residents are encouraged to call the crime-report hotline 993 or the anti-scam hotline 8800 7777 for assistance, the statement underlined.
