Cooling shelter in Ilha Verde opens

The observatory yesterday hoisted the “yellow” hot weather alert so the Social Welfare Bureau (IAS) has opened its temporarily cooling shelter in Ilha Verde until the mercury drops to a more amenable temperature, an IAS statement said yesterday.

According to the statement, the shelter is located in E1 Bairro da Ilha Verde Building at 34 Rua Leste da Ilha Verde. The statement said that in order to be aligned with the Health Bureau’s (SSM) COVID-19 prevention and control measures, the bureau will ask users to show a valid Macau Health Code, have their temperatures checked, wear facemasks, and keep at least a metre apart.

The bureau urged residents to keep an eye on senior citizens who live alone, have chronic diseases or frail health, and to be prepared for the hot weather.

At 1 a.m. today, the mercury stood at 28 degrees Celsius.

Public hospital normal visiting hours resume

An SSM statement said yesterday that considering that the city has no new COVID-19 Delta variant cases since August 3, the bureau has decided to resume normal visiting hours at the public Conde de S. Januário Hospital Centre. The statement said that those entering the hospital must abide by the bureau’s prevention and control guidelines, including wearing a facemask, have their temperature checked, disinfect hands with alcohol sanitiser and display a valid Macau Health Code. Meanwhile, the statement said that the bureau does not recommend children who are five or under to visit the hospital.

Museum of the Macau Security Forces reopens

According to the Macau Public Security Forces (FSM) statement, the Museum of the Macau Security Forces reopened yesterday, adding that the museum will implement crowd control measures. The statement also said that visitors must comply with the SSM prevention and control guidelines.

Fire Services Museum reopens

According to the Fire Services Bureau (CB), its museum also reopened yesterday, adding that it opens daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The statement underlined that the museum had been deep-cleaned and disinfected prior to the opening.

The statement also said that the bureau might implement crowd control depending on the number of visitors, pointing out that it strictly follows the Health Bureau’s prevention and control guidelines.
