Macau's gaming sector had 55,768 full-time employees at the end of the second quarter, a decrease of 2.94 percent year on year, the Statistics and Census Bureau (DSEC) announced today.
Gaming sector employees accounted for nearly 12 percent of Macau's total force which amounted to 471,300 in the bureau's April-June employment survey period.
At the end of June, the gaming industry employed 24,643 dealers (croupiers), down by 701 year on year.
In June, full-time gaming industry employees' average earnings (excluding bonuses) stood at 23,690 patacas (US$2,954), up by 2.1 percent year on year. Dealers' average earnings rose 3.5 percent to 19,950 patacas.
At the end of the second quarter, the gaming sector reported only 56 vacancies, an increase of 31 year on year.
Knowledge of Putonghua and English was a hiring requirement for 80.4 percent and 78.6 percent of the vacancies.
In the second quarter, the sector's recruitment rate (0.8 percent) and employee turnover rate (1.8 percent ) rose 0.6 and 1.2 percentage points respectively, while the job vacancy rate stood at 0.1 percent.
The survey did not include those employed by the junket sector.
