A non-resident worker attempted to trick the local police on Monday into looking into his case in the mainland by fabricating a crime story, a Judiciary Police (PJ) spokesperson said yesterday.
Speaking during a regular press briefing, the spokesperson said the suspect told police on Monday that he had his phone stolen while he was at a cyber café in the northern district on June 15.
According to the spokesperson, the suspect told police that he didn’t call the police immediately after the incident, but a week after his phone had been stolen, he noticed that about 2,000 yuan had been withdrawn from his Alipay account and a 14,000 yuan loan had been placed on it.
