Speaking about the draft of an “interpretative law” on the  Land Law, which was submitted last week to the Legislative Assembly (AL), legislator-cum-urban planner Jose Chui Sai Peng said yesterday that the legislature’s advisors should be given enough time to analyse the bill.

Jose made the remarks on the sidelines of the opening ceremony of the Science and Technology Week 2016, hosted by the government’s Science and Technology Council at Fisherman’s Wharf.

The bill, which aims to interpret the Land Law’s clauses regulating provisional land concessions, was proposed by legislator-cum-law professor Gabriel Tong Io Cheng. Ho Iat Seng, the speaker of the Legislative Assembly, said on Monday that the legislature’s legal advisors were analysing whether the bill should be passed to the chief executive for approval before it can be submitted to the legislature for debate and vote.
