The Macau Government Tourism Office (MGTO) said in a statement yesterday that it has been spreading the news about extending the negative COVID-19 Nucleic Acid Test (NAT) result validity period to seven days to the mainland via social media platforms.
According to the statement, since the announcement by the Novel Coronavirus Response and Coordination Centre that from 00.00 a.m. on August 25, individuals intending to cross the border between Macau and Guangdong province must present a valid negative COVID-19 NAT result issued within an extended span of seven days, MGTO has been promoting it on WeChat, Weibo, Xiaohongshu and Douyin.
The statement said that MGTO continues to carry out its promotion campaign that includes special travel offers such as hotel and air ticket coupons.
The statement pointed out that netizens have shared enthusiastic feedback and said they were looking forward to visiting Macau. Furthermore, MGTO staff are handing out the city’s travel brochures, including those about Macau Highlight Tours, to visitors at MGTO’s Tourist Information counter at the Barrier Gate, where staff display welcome messages to “express warm hospitality to visitors”. According to the statement, a promotion video is shown on the information counter’s TV screen to remind the public that individuals intending to cross the border between Macau and Guangdong province are required to present a valid negative NAT issued within seven days. The statement also said that MGTO aimed to promote Macau as a safe and quality travel destination.
