A male non-resident worker (NRW) from the mainland has been arrested for touching a Filipino cleaner’s buttocks in a lift, Public Security Police (PSP) spokesman Wong Wai Chon said during a regular press conference yesterday.

The suspect in his fifties works in a restaurant. Wong did not reveal his surname.

According to Wong, the victim, who is in his thirties, told the police that on May 30 when he was cleaning a lift in a residential building in Taipa, a man entered the lift on the ground floor and touched his buttocks

The victim immediately demanded the man to stop, but he persisted in touching the victim’s buttocks until the lift reached the twentieth floor, after which he left.

Police arrested the suspect on Thursday at his workplace. Under questioning, he admitted the offence.

The suspect has been transferred to the Public Prosecutions Office (MP), where he faces a charge of sexual harassment.
