Graft busters uncover IACM abuse of power case

The Commission Against Corruption (CCAC) said in a statement yesterday that a former and a senior official of the Civic and Municipal Affairs Bureau’s (IACM) abused their power by covering up the frequent unjustified absence of two of their subordinates over a course of four years.

The statement said the case had cost the public Treasury 550,000 patacas.

According to the statement, between 2011 and 2014, two IACM staff were late for work and left early without justification over 600 times between them. However, based on the graft busters’ investigation, despite knowing about it, the two suspects deliberately ignored the wrongdoings of their subordinates.
