The Macau Government Tourism Office (MGTO) said in a statement yesterday that as the COVID-19 pandemic situation has stabilised in Macau, its “Stay, Dine and See Macao” local tours will resume operation from Saturday, following the latest novel coronavirus prevention and control measures laid out by the Health Bureau (SSM).
According to the statement, due to the Delta variant family cluster several weeks ago, MGTO had suspended its local tours in order to safeguard public health. The bureau said that for enquiries, people may call 8396 3052 or 2838 9153 between 9 a.m. and 7 p.m. daily. The statement said that people can now sign up for the local tours through travel agencies that have joined the programme or at the information counters specially set up in six local hotels and integrated resorts.
Moreover, the statement pointed out that 13 adjusted itineraries for the third phase of “Stay, Dine and See Macao” for September – December will come out according to schedule. The hotel staycation experience under the “Stay, Dine and See Macao” project will last until the end of December, available every day, including on public holidays. The statement noted that from April 15 until July 31, a total of 32,961 individuals signed up for local tours, while 23,568 participants went on the tours and 17,492 staycation packages were sold. The statement also said that in August, 9,335 individuals signed up for local tours while a total of 2,803 staycation packages were sold. The statement added that owing to the suspension of the “Stay, Dine and See Macao” local tours because of the pandemic situation early last month, 8,514 individuals cancelled their signup for local tours while 2,042 staycation packages were cancelled, involving 12,598 individuals in total.
