Marking the 12th anniversary of its Oktoberfest, MGM announced in a statement yesterday the return of its popular beer-fest.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic last year’s fully-fledged Oktoberfest had to be scrapped, even though a mini-version was held at MGM COTAI.

This time, the event featuring Bavarian beer and delicacies will be held from October 21 to October 31 according to the statement.

The statement said that around 170,000 beer lovers have been welcomed to the event in the past 11 years, with a consumption of over 160,000 litres of beer and more than 70,000 kilogrammes of roasted pork knuckles and chicken.

With a nod to the festival’s German heritage, MGM will continue to serve an assortment of German cuisine and beverages, the statement noted.

This consists of Löwenbräu, one of the six authentic Bavarian Oktoberfest brews, along with Paulaner beer from another approved brewery. The statement also said that the festival will comprise live music, Bavarian patterned beer tents, and ceiling wreaths.

Guests will be welcomed to a whole new “concert-style entertainment extravaganza”, the statement noted. Along with famous vocalists and local DJs, TARZAN, an award–winning rock band, will fly in from Shanghai for a live performance and the event’s signature song, “Nei Hou, Macau!” The statement further added that the stage will be lit with a brand-new interactive lighting system.

The event will take place at MGM COTAI’s 1/F Roof Terrace with a family-friendly special daytime Oktoberfest to take place every Saturday and Sunday between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. throughout the event’s duration.

According to the statement, MGM COTAI and MGM MACAU’s reservation counters will be in service starting from next Tuesday. Macau ID card holders and Mlife members qualify for a 20-pataca discount on each entry ticket and a 20 percent discount on Oktoberfest merchandise, the statement noted.
