A man “fell” from a residential building and died upon impact with the ground yesterday morning, Judiciary Police (PJ) spokeswoman Lei Hon Nei said in a statement yesterday.
According to the statement, the Judiciary Police were notified by the Public Security Police (PSP) and the public Conde de S. Januário Hospital Centre at about 9:25 a.m. yesterday that a man had fallen from a height onto Estrada Marginal da Ilha Verde earlier yesterday. The victim was rushed to hospital where he was confirmed dead. PJ officers rushed to the scene to investigate.
According to the police investigation, a worker on a construction site in Estrada Marginal da Ilha Verde reported to the police at about 8:40 a.m. that he had suddenly heard a loud thud, after which he discovered a man lying in the road, Lei’s statement said.
After a preliminary examination of the body, no suspicious or criminal injuries were found on the deceased. The injuries were caused by falling from a height. The deceased’s wife told the police that she had quarrelled with her husband the night before. After her husband went to work yesterday morning, he sent her a suicide note via WeChat at about 8:14 a.m., according to Lei’s statement.
The deceased was a 37-year-old local man.
The case has preliminarily been classified as a dead-body-found case, and the corpse will undergo forensic examination.
