With the support of Sands China and the participation of its team members, the Macau Gaming Industry Employees Home Integrated Services Centre hosted the ‘Gaming Industry Responsible Gaming Promotion Day 2021’ roadshow in the back-of-house areas on Sands China premises, according to a statement by the resort operator earlier this week.

The statement noted that the event aimed to expand Sands China’s team members’ awareness of responsible gaming and help them revise their knowledge about it. The statement added that the programme also supports the government’s “Lost Control, Lose Family” responsible gaming campaign.

The statement noted that the team members got a chance to play games and join activities related to responsible gaming, with the participation of more than 500 people. The statement also pointed out that 20 of Sands China’s Responsible Gaming Ambassadors were present at the event to speak with their colleagues about responsible gaming.

The statement elaborated that to provide an appropriate response and assistance to patrons indicating signs of problem gambling, the ambassadors undertake additional training to gain further knowledge about problem gambling as well as strengthen their awareness of responsible gaming’s importance. The programme is the only one in Macau done in coordination with the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV), with the resort operator having provided advanced training since 2013 and currently has trained about 650 ambassadors, the statement noted.

The statement quoted Wilfred Wong Ying-wai, president of Sands China Ltd., as saying: “We were very pleased to see the participation of our team members, including our Responsible Gaming Ambassadors, who gained an opportunity to sharpen their skills during this roadshow. The company thanks the Macau Gaming Industry Employees Home Integrated Services Centre for their collaboration in this event, and we look forward to our continued joint efforts in the future.”
