Macau's weather station issued the Red Rainstorm Warning Signal and Thunderstorm Warning Signal this morning.
The Red Rainstorm Warning Signal means that precipitation is forecast to exceed 50 millimetres in an hour. It is the second highest rainstorm warning of a three-level system (yellow, red, black).
A statement by the Macau Meteorological and Geophysical Bureau (SMG) urged the public to avoid outdoor activities. It also warned of flooding in low-lying areas.
The observatory also said that it would replace the Tropical Cyclone Signal No. 3 with the Standby Signal No. 1 at 2 p.m. At 1 p.m. Typhoon "Lionrock" was located about 650 km west-southwest of Macau and continued to move away from Macau.
