The Macau Institute for Tourism Studies (IFTM) will host a tourism innovation and entrepreneurship competition entitled “Idea-cation @IFTM 2021” from November 5 to 7, according to a statement by the institution earlier this week.
The statement said that the on-campus event will be launched to garner original technological solutions in order to tackle business challenges and opportunities brought by the Macau’s “Tourism+” initiative, with the aim of obtaining practical solutions suitable for various industries such as tourism, hospitality, and retail. The statement noted that the event is one of the key events to celebrate the institute’s 26th anniversary.
The on-campus event will last for three days and two nights, allowing participants to make friends, pitch ideas, and gain insights from industry or academic experts, the statement underlined. The statement added that an assigned mentor will assist teams with their ideas and strive to enhance their abilities. Additionally, guest speakers will share their insights into business innovation.
The statement pointed out that finalists are expected to develop their proposals into a concrete plan and pitch them to judges on the final day of the competition, for which a variety of visual formats may be used. The statement said that the pitching performance and the visuals used will be evaluated by the judges so as to determine the champion, second and third places.
The prizes will vary according to the team’s placement, with each winning team being awarded an access pass to a newly established “IFTM Ideation Lab” and cash prizes up to 10,000 patacas.
