Macau's entertainment venues such as cinemas, karoake bars and gyms will be allowed to reopen at 0:00 on Tuesday, the Macau Government Information Bureau (GCS) announced this afternoon.

A GCS statement pointed out that the venues have been closed since 0:00 on October 6 by order of Chief Executive Ho Iat Seng after the detection of a COVID-19 cluster of hotel security guards in connection with an imported case, a local resident from Turkey.

The order was gazetted today. The statement pointed out that as of today Macau has not reported a new COVID-19 case for 11 days.

The entertainment venues permitted to reopen on Tuesday also include beauty parlours, bowling alleys, cybercafes, video-game arcades, saunas, massage parlours, snooker halls, nightclubs, discotheques, ballrooms, and indoor amusement parks.

Unlike other entertainment venues, Macau's over three dozen casinos were allowed to stay open because of strict COVID-19 prevention and control measures that have been in force for over a year, the government has said.

Macau's COVID-19 tally stands at 77. No novel coronavirus fatalities have been reported in Macau.
