As in-class teaching resumes today, many parents have been queuing outside shops for their children’s winter uniforms, but some complained to reporters yesterday that they had been lining up for three consecutive days yet they still could not purchase their children’s winter uniform.

For instance, inside and even outside Wai Kei Sundry Goods in Fai Chi Kei there was a long queue of parents wanting to buy winter uniforms yesterday. From yesterday morning to the afternoon there were dozens of parents waiting to purchase their children’s schoolwear. A parent told reporters that she had been lining up for three days, even though the school told her that she did not need to rush into buying the winter uniform, she was worried that her children would feel cold this week. She also said that she did not understand why schools would not help their students order uniforms.

There were even infants with their parents in the queue for uniforms, and one of the parents said that she was not happy that they could only purchase uniforms from one shop for their school, adding that the government was urging residents to avoid gathering because of the pandemic yet over a hundred of parents were queuing up.

Another parent pointed out that even though the shop offered online ordering, it would take up to one week for the uniforms to arrive, so she preferred buying them from the shop.
