Macau reached 25,252 visitor arrivals on Friday, which is the highest number recorded since the city entered the state of immediate prevention on September 25 due to the detection of a COVID-19 cluster, the Macau Government Tourism Office (MGTO) said in a statement on Saturday.
According to the statement, since the COVID-19 pandemic situation in Macau has stabilised and Zhuhai has loosened its novel coronavirus prevention and control measures for arrivals from Macau, the number of visitors has gradually increased. The statement noted that on the day the 14-day mandatory quarantine was lifted in Zhuhai, the number of visitor arrivals immediately soared to nearly 14,000 a day.
Amidst the state of immediate prevention, over the National Day Golden Week holiday Macau only had 8,159 visitor arrivals in total.
In the statement the Macau Government Tourism Office promised to promote Macau by advertising the city on various social media such as WeChat, Weibo, Red and Tiktok, advocating Macau as a safe and quality destination for mainland visitors.
The statement underlined that there will be a string of events taking place in November and December, including the Macau Light Festival and the Light-up Macau Drone Gala, which both are organised by Macau Government Tourism Office to attract more visitors and thereby revive economic activities in local communities.
